Just finished 3 weeks working with SoloConversations Dance Collective on a new idea for a work, led by Alex Tissot, one of our crew. Amazing explorations into emotions as a motor, and polyphonic singing with the incredible Christine Leboutte. I also restarted the practice of Body Rhymes (improvised spoken word poetry & movement) – something I should be doing daily! Thanks again to Serge Gutwirth for his photographic genius.

Body Rhymes gets its first public outing 2nd July!! I’ll perform this improvised solo in the experimental frame of Jongbloed!’s Kunstenfestival Avant Garden in one of the temporary houses of Antwerp’s Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten. It’s very close to Antwerp Central station, so check out more info here!
Very exciting!! From next week I’ll be researching at Try! Residency in Tipperary for 2 weeks for my project Body Rhymes, which will culminate in a showing, and then a performance in Tipperary Dance Platform in October.
Body Rhymes is an exploration into the world of spoken word poetry and its possible combinations with the body. How can spoken word be looped with unspoken word & movement? How does the body rhyme?
Back from the CCI Consciousness Retreat in Croatia, the start of a new phase ‘living my life like it’s golden’. Gratitude in bundles to everyone who has passed, and will pass through my life. Gratitude for those who have coached me, triggered me, frustrated and inspired me. Embracing my new qualification as a Consciousness Coach® – yes!!

Inspiring research! I especially like the part talking about the powering down of the self-monitoring part of the brain (less self-judgement) and powering up of the self-expression part. The only way to get over the monkey on your shoulder then is just to do it, and keep doing! Improve the performer’s improvising brain, not the performance. Which, of course, would never be the same twice anyway 🙂
